From the beaches of Rio to the Tour Eiffel, classics of Brazilian samba and bossa nova by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, mix with the French Chanson of Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour and Charles Trenet. An evening of retro music, the soothing sounds of the Riveria.

Song selections include, La Vie En Rose, Corcovado, Girl From Ipanema, Je Ne Regret Rien, Wave, Perfidia, The Gentle Rain, La Mer, Menilmontant, So Danso Samba, Je T'Attendrai...and more.


Historical context

Veronneau performs in English, Spanish, Portuguese and her native French, what better selection than the international delights of France, Brazil and Latin America. The music is introduced in the context of the inter-relationship of French and American Jazz, and also focuses on Washington DC's specific role in mainstreaming Brazilian music in the 1960's, introducing bossa nova to the world through the work of Charlie Byrd and Felix Grant.
