About
Hi! I'm based in Paris, but I spend a good amount of time in the U.S.
I have a lot of experience playing classical music for people who don't necessarily listen to it. Inspired by my teachers in conservatory, in my recitals I try to give helpful clues – playing melodies, giving an idea of the structure, whatever – that can help the listener appreciate and enjoy the music. A little help can go a long way. My proudest moment was getting the German audience at a pre-concert Q and A to sing the main theme of the Korngold Concerto before my performance.
I love playing not just in concert halls but also in more intimate settings. I've played many concerts in private homes – houses, apartments,
castles (that's a perk of living in France!). It's great to meet people afterwards, usually eating and drinking.....
In my playing I try to be generous, very expressive, and unfettered by the often deadening ideas that have influenced too many classical musicians. I also am not just a classical pianist – I've improvised and played by ear since I was 5, and this certainly has a large influence on my playing.
