About

Sara Gabalawi was born in Philadelphia and has performed in twenty-one countries and twenty-four American states. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory and a degree in Humanities from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) with "High Honors". Sara then moved to Europe where she graduated with a performance diploma from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (The Netherlands), followed by a Master of Arts degree ("cum laude") and a Postgraduate degree both from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Belgium). Sara has performed with numerous notable ensembles in the USA and Europe such as the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris, Opera Philadelphia, The Tucson Symphony (AZ), the Residentie Orkest in The Hague (NL), and the Rotterdam Philharmonic (NL). With the Brussels Contemporary Ensemble, Sara was in residence at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu, China in 2019 where she was a guest professor and performed numerous concerts.

Music

An dedicated educator, Sara has been teaching cello and piano privately for over ten years. She also teaches at the Thurnauer School of Music at the JCC in Tenafly, NJ, at the Hoff-Barthelson School in Scarsdale, and previously taught with the Harmony Program in New York City as the cello teacher at schools in the Bronx.
