About

Nico has been a student of many genres his entire life. He earned a degree in classical voice from UC Santa Cruz, and spent 8 years as a professional choral singer and soloist, before leaving that world to focus more on songwriting. He is a private guitar, piano, and voice teacher, and directs a small choir (Quoir, or queer choir) in LA.

Music

Nico has composed dozens of original lullabies and magical night music, for adults and children alike. Magical night music is just bedtime stories in song form. He blends his background in western classical music (especially the songs of Schumann, Faure, and Britten), with folk and R&B, to create a satisfying range of moods and grooves, all in the spirit of down regulation. From the traditional form of lullabies, songs intended for babies, he has expanded the genre to also include themes of adulthood (and even death, the final lullaby!) As for his story songs, he draws upon the great human tradition of storytelling, engaging audiences with rapture and whimsy.
