For hosts: I'm an experienced cellist with a long performance history. I play a Prescott 5/4 cello from 1812 that was commissioned in New Hampshire -- it has a gorgeous, rich sound and is a uniquely old instrument!
For players: I love playing cello and am happy to join any odd combination of players! If you are in need of a cello, please feel free to reach out! I learn new material very quickly, so can put on a hour-long performance with minimal (1-2) rehearsals if necessary. If one enjoys a moderate (3-4) amount of rehearsals as part of a social and creative process, that's cool too.
Music
While I generally stick to standard classical repertoire ranging from baroque to modern, I will say I'm adept at picking out more niche pieces in the ouvre. I've recently discovered that there exists an hour+ of good music for nearly any combination of instruments you have / want. And putting on a concert where the first half is combinations of the instruments and the second half is the full ensemble is always a great time.
Some stuff I can perform as solo or trio work:
- Dvorak cello concerto
- Schumann cello concerto
- Bach unaccompanied suites
- Cassado solo cello suite
- Franck sonata
- Beethoven Archduke trio, Shostakovich trio #2, Mendelssohn trio #2, etc.
