About
Hsiao-Ling Ting was born and raised in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 1998. Ting started her musical studies on oboe, piano and suona. In 2013, Ting was selected as a semifinalist in the Asian Double Reed Associate International Competition. Twice, Ting won the National Student Competition of Music in Taiwan in both 2019 and 2021. Ting graduated from National Taiwan Normal University with a master’s degree where she studied with Li-Yueh Ling. At the same time, Ting subbed for National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra from 2019-2021. Ting was accepted as the second oboe by Nan Chang Symphony Orchestra, China in 2022. Ting received her second master’s degree at Manhattan School of Music studied with Sherry Sylar. Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral degree in James Smith studio at Stony Brook University.
Music
I usually play classical music for my academic study. But I’d love to explore different fields and genre. Sometimes I also perform some Jazz element music for specific occasions.
