About
Adrianne Munden-Dixon is a NYC-based violinist praised for her “animated and driven” performances (Connect Savannah). She is a current member of the Savannah Philharmonic, Desdemona Quartet, Schiele, New York Virtuosi, and Aeon Music Ensemble. She has appeared as a chamber musician at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Spectrum, Mannes, Cornelia Street Café, and Aspen Chapel as a student at the Aspen Music Festival where she spent three summers. She has appeared as a soloist with the New Artists Ensemble, the Carnegie Mellon Baroque Ensemble, and as a recitalist from New York to Georgia. As an orchestral player she has worked under the baton of Robert Spano, Manfred Honeck, Peter Shannon, Yan Pascal Tortelier, and Jane Glover.
Adrianne is a dedicated supporter of new music and working with living composers. She has commissioned and premiered works by established and emerging composers including Stephanie Ann Boyd, Shelley Washington, Fredrik Gran, Yuri Boguinia, Nicholas Virzi, and Dana Malseptic. She is currently involved in Boyd’s 50 States Project and will give the Georgia premier of her violin sonata Amerigo in 2018. Adrianne was featured in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for her project “Yoga Sebastian Bach”, which combines yoga with live music ranging from Bach to newly commissioned works.
Adrianne is a faculty member at Larchmont Music Academy and has led masterclasses at Savannah Arts Academy. Her principal teachers include Carmit Zori, Laurie Smukler, Cyrus Forough, and Cornelia Heard, and she has played in master classes for Todd Philips, Oleh Krysa, William Vandersloot, Arturo Delmoni, Andrew Fouts, and members of Quatuor Ebene. She received her B.M. from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music and completed her M.M. on a full tuition scholarship at Carnegie Mellon University in May 2016.
Outside of music, Adrianne is a certified yoga instructor and former competitive surfer. She plays a 1780 Kloz violin.
