Quentin Derac and Ilene Mendoza will open the event with a duet piece. Following, Ilene Mendoza, on piano, will be playing for 30 minutes. After an intermission, Quentin Derac will play his program “Across the Classical Eras” for 45 minutes.

Historical context

Classical Music has been around for hundreds of years, and is the first of many creative milestones we as humans have achieved. The raw emotion that can be felt from a piece of music by Chopin, the creativity and voice leading by Beethoven, to the technical articulation we can see in composers like Ravel. Classical music—IS history. It displays to us what period the world was in at the time. It tells us stories through its melodies and rhythm. Without classical music, the music of today’s world could never exist.
