Chopin's most magnificent creations. John Lennon's Imaginings. Thelonious Monk's wild genius. So disparate these worlds conjured, but held in common by their vehicle - The Emperor of Instruments, The Piano.
Virtuoso pianist Matt Herskowitz understands the aesthetic range of this miraculous machine, as he floats from jazz to Bach and back - equally electrifying no matter the discipline. And, lucky us, we're invited to join for a Night Out to witness this wonder!
He's brought through by the New York Piano Society, which for years has provided a place for brilliant pianists who have decided to pursue other careers to continue to refine and share their art.
We'll head to Merkin Hall to hear their final performance of the season: Their roster has prepared some Liszt, Prokofiev, Bach, a piano trio by Dvořák -- and the finale is the great master Herskowitz, with a set that spans from Schubert to Dave Brubeck, improvising, genre-bending, and blending the Spirit of Old with the Spirit of New.
While tickets typically run $40, you can get yours for a mere $20 -- because it's Groupmuse after all! But supplies are limited, so hustle!
What's the music?

Works by Bach, Chopin, Debussy, Brubeck, and more.
