Young Concert Artists (YCA) has been in the business of cultivating the next generation of classical music virtuoso for over five decades, but last year they broke new ground: in 2017, for the first time in its history, YCA gave its first place prize to a classical accordion player. And when you hear Hanzhi Wang, you'll understand why -- the textures, the oh-so subtle dynamic control, the fleet-fingered virtuosity, filling the hall with so much sound from an instrument the size of a breadbox.
This Monday, YCA has invited our community to join Wang's Carnegie Hall Debut for a Groupmuse Night Out. She's got an evening Bach, Mozart, Piazzolla and more prepared and it'll change the way you see the squeeze box forever.
Tickets typically average $45, but YCA is good people, so we've scored a stack for only $15! But supplies are limited so boogie if you want in!
Also, if you're wondering what classical accordion sounds like, feast on this.
And have a great Night Out!
What's the music?
