The Metropolitan Museum of Art has become truly a home for the Groupmuse community, with our long stretch of sold-out Nights Out going back well over a year. This Friday is a season finale at the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium, and our wonderful friends at the Museum want us there for it!
The Aizuri Quartet, an all-female ensemble that only weeks ago, won the prestigious $100,000 M-Prize, is joined by the renowned Syrian clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh of the fabled Silk Road Ensemble, to explore musical traditions and impulses from the world over, with works living and of-old from Armenia, Turkey, Estonia, Peru, Syria, China, and more. To share such a diverse and worldly tapestry of sound in an unrivaled temple of Western Culture is truly the ultimate gift of this Great City.
The concert starts at 7pm, but from 6-6:30, the six living composers whose work is being performed will participate in a pre-concert talk on the stage, moderated by new music icon Helga Davis. The bar will be open throughout!
Tickets to such a feast are typically $35, but it's Groupmuse after all, so you'll get yours for $20! And it comes with full-day access to the museum, so make a day of it!
NOTE: This show is not general admission, so if you want to sit with your crew, buy your tickets in a bundle!
