Last summer, the exquisite historical mansion-museum The Camron-Stanford House threw open its doors to us and we had a dream of a Massivemuse on its huge and beautiful lawn, overlooking Oakland's cherished Lake Merritt. Well, the fairest season is back upon us and so it's with great excitement that we announce we're heading back to Camron-Stanford for another afternoon Massivemuse!
One Found Sound the conductor-less chamber orchestra that's hot on the Bay-Area music scene is lending their talents for the occasion: they're cooking up Prokofiev's bouncy, melodious and modernist Quintet for Wind and Strings and Mozart's absolutely supreme Clarinet Quintet, often referred to as perhaps the greatest piece of chamber music in history.
One Found Sound represents exactly the sort of youthful, open-minded dynamism that classical music needs to embody in this century, and they're comrades-in-arms in the fight to suffuse our world with the sublime, so we're particularly stoked they're joining!
The Massive is BYOB and BYOBlanket, because we'll be on the lawn. So stretch out, tune in, and bliss on some true beauty -- the sky, the lake, the architectural majesty, the sweet sounds: a symphony of senses.
Tickets are $20, doors are at 3.30pm, it'll extend until evening, and we'll see you there!
What's the music?
