The cultural fruits of this city proliferate with truly staggering abundance, what can we say? For the second time in a month, we’re heading back to Symphony Hall for a Handel and Haydn Night Out!
Regarded as perhaps the finest period instrument orchestra, the over-2-centuries-old Handel and Haydn Society is known for celebrating the treasures of the Baroque and Friday May 4th will be no exception as they unleash George Handel’s 3-act opera, Hercules.
The story of Hercules has been told by Ovid, Sophocles, Disney, even Kevin Sorbo, 90’s TV style. But Handel’s rendition is a revelation — channeling the baroque genius’s sense of drama and the sublime for a transformational experience of mythical proportions.
Tickets for this song of the centuries average $50 a pop, but H+H is good people and they love their ‘musers, so we’ve gotten you a stack for $20, an absurd rate for an evening of such power! But it’s quite limited, so if you want in, grab yours now!
What's the music?
