Schubert: String Quintet in C Major, D. 956

ART&MUSICA х Groupmuse present Schubert’s String Quintet in C Major, D. 956 — one of the defining masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire, brought to life by an exceptional international ensemble.
Written in 1828, during the final months of Schubert’s life, the String Quintet occupies a singular place in chamber music. Scored for two violins, viola, and two cellos, its distinctive instrumentation creates a remarkable depth of sound — moving between luminous lyricism, profound stillness, and an almost symphonic emotional scale.

Dmitri Berlinsky, Taisiya Losmakova, Marija Räisänen, Mickey Katz, and Adrian Daurov come together in New York for a complete performance of this monumental work. Collectively, the musicians bring extensive international experience across the world’s concert stages, orchestras, and chamber music institutions.

Set within a historic Upper East Side setting, the evening brings together Schubert’s music, architecture, and a New York audience for a singular celebration of one of the composer’s final and greatest works.

THE ARTISTS
Dmitri Berlinsky · Violin
Internationally acclaimed violinist Dmitri Berlinsky rose to prominence as the youngest winner in the history of the Paganini International Violin Competition, followed by major prizes at the Montreal, Tchaikovsky, and Queen Elisabeth competitions. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Berlin Philharmonie, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, and other leading international stages. Berlinsky is Professor of Violin at Michigan State University and founder and Artistic Director of the International Chamber Soloists.

Taisiya Losmakova · Violin
Belarusian-born, New York–based violinist Taisiya Losmakova made her Carnegie Hall debut as a chamber musician at Weill Recital Hall and maintains an active international career as a soloist and chamber musician. Prior to moving to the United States, she served as Concertmaster and Artistic Lead of the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus and appeared as a soloist with the Belarusian State Philharmonic. Alongside her performing career, Taisiya is the co-founder and creative producer of ART&MUSICA, creating a new generation of classical music experiences in New York.

Marija Räisänen · Viola
Praised for her expressive artistry and vivid musical presence, Finnish-Lithuanian violist Marija Räisänen is an internationally active chamber musician. A founding member of the Erinys Quartet from 2018 to 2026, she received First Prize at the 2025 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition. She has performed at the Lucerne Festival and Konzerthaus Berlin and collaborated with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Marija studied at the Sibelius Academy, Curtis Institute of Music, Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Mickey Katz · Cello
Israeli-born cellist Mickey Katz has been a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 2004, where he holds the Stephen and Dorothy Weber Chair. An active chamber musician, he has appeared at the Marlboro Music Festival and collaborated with members of the Juilliard and Guarneri Quartets, as well as Pinchas Zukerman and Gil Shaham. Katz studied with Laurence Lesser at the New England Conservatory and currently serves on the faculties of the New England Conservatory and Tanglewood Music Center

Adrian Daurov · Cello
St. Petersburg-born, New York–based cellist Adrian Daurov has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe and serves as Principal Cellist of the Chamber Orchestra of New York. A graduate of The Juilliard School, he recently appeared as soloist at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, performing Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme with the Chamber Orchestra of New York. Daurov performs on a 1989 cello crafted by luthier John Terry in Florence, Italy.
