Every so often, Friday at 8 pm we'll host piano concerts, including duets and soloists, on the parlor floor of our Brooklyn home, allowing for time to mingle and to get to know the musician after the performance.
What's the music?
I. Paderewski - Nocturne Op. 16 N. 4
W.A. Mozart - Rondo in D major, K. 485
P.I. Tchaikovsky - Nocturne Op. 10 N. 1
P.I. Tchaikovsky - Dumka Op. 59 “Scenes from a Russian village
R. Schumann - Arabesque Op. 18
F. Liszt - Grand Concert Fantasy on Spanish Themes S. 253
Where does this music come from?
From Mozart’s Classical elegance to Paderewski’s poetic charm, Tchaikovsky’s nostalgic lyricism, Schumann’s intimate, almost childish Romantic imagination, and Liszt’s dazzling monstrous virtuosity, probably the most difficult piece ever written for piano, this program traces the evolving language of piano expression across the 18th and 19th centuries.
