This is a groupmuse

A live concert in a living room, backyard, or another intimate space. They're casual and friendly, hosted by community members.

Host

Helen B.

Dear friends,

The great Cristian Budu is in town from Brazil. Not only is he one of the greatest pianists of his generation, but he's also a founding father of Groupmuse -- serving as host for those early proto-muses back in Boston some 15 years ago that inspired Groupmuse founder Sam Bodkin to start this project.

Since then, Groupmuse has organized almost 11,000 gatherings all around the world and Cristian Budu has gone on to win the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition and to astound audiences the world over.

And now, he's coming through New York City so we thought it a perfect opportunity to have a Fundmuser to share this absolute musical treasure and pillar of Groupmuse lore with our Big Apple crowd at a stunning SoHo loft. Groupmuse founders Sam Bodkin and Kyle Schmolze will be flying in from the West Coast for the occasion.

Tickets start at $100 and the sum is fully tax-deductible -- it'll go to support the Groupmuse Foundation and our movement.

Wine and bites will be included, provided by our lovely and generous hosts, Bunny and Bill Beekman. And we'll get you out the door by 8.30 to make any Friday night dinner reservations you might have!

What's the music?

In 2017, Cristian's recording of Chopin's 24 Preludes was chosen as one of the 50 Greatest Chopin Recordings -- an astonishing feat considering that Cristian was still in his 20s and the list included other names you might be familiar with: Martha Argerich, Arthur Rubinstein, Maria João Pires, Dinu Lipatti and more.

Budu will be playing this tremendous Chopin masterpiece for us on the 17th, in addition to Robert Schumann's Kreisleriana -- another speciality. You don't want to miss it!
