The Garrett Mader quartet explores the music of legendary saxophonist John Coltrane, from his earlier, bop-adjacent works to his fiery and spiritual late career. @garettmader
What's the music?
The Garrett Mader quartet will be going through John Coltrane's catalogue of original music. The evening will start off with earlier, more bop-adjacent tunes and work its way into Coltrane's later, more spiritual and harmonically dense works works.
Where does this music come from?
All the music we will perform was written by John Coltrane between 1957 and 1964. These were peak years for John Coltrane as he developed from a solid sideman to a visionary voice of improvised music.
