Get ready for a deeply moving recital with Camerata Pacifica, featuring a rich, soulful program of piano and chamber works that weave together intimacy, longing, and poetic storytelling.
Beethoven – Sonata in E Minor, Op. 90: Composed in 1814, this two-movement sonata marks a turning point in Beethoven’s style. The first movement, marked “Mit Lebhaftigkeit … mit Empfindung”, brims with passionate restraint and lyrical intensity, while the second, set in E major, unfolds with tender, singing repose.
Schubert – Sonata in A Minor, D. 821 “Arpeggione”: Originally written for the arpeggione (a rare bowed instrument), this lyrical sonata in A minor captures Schubert’s gift for songwriting — its long, flowing lines feel like deeply personal songs without words, full of yearning and gentle melancholy.
Beethoven – Sonata in G Minor, Op. 49 No. 1: A compact but dramatic sonata, this work combines Classical clarity with a surprisingly brooding emotional undercurrent. In just a few short movements, Beethoven creates a landscape of tension and contrast — light and dark, restraint and passion.
Schumann – Märchenbilder, Op. 113: Literally “Fairy-Tale Pictures,” this set of four character pieces (originally for viola and piano, here reimagined) offers a beautifully poetic journey. Schumann gives no explicit narrative — instead, he draws us into a world of fantasy, imagination, and emotional nuance.
This program is more than just a concert — it’s a conversation between composers across eras, exploring identity, memory, and the stories that hide in sound.
