Host

Join Sonya Shin on violin and Jonathan Fuller on cello for an intimate afternoon of music from Baroque brilliance to Romantic lyricism. Experience J.S. Bach’s radiant Prelude No. 15 and Suite No. 6 first and third movements, the dramatic intensity of Biber’s Mystery Sonata No. 10 “The Crucifixion of Jesus," and the playful charm of Glière’s Eight Pieces for Violin and Cello. Complimented by Clementi’s elegant Violin Sonata in D Major, Op. 5, C.P.E. Bach’s virtuosic Presto in C Minor, and heartfelt songs from Dichterliebe and Lerchengesang, this program blends technical brilliance, emotional depth, and lyrical beauty in a cozy, welcoming setting.

Sonya Shin is a Canadian violinist currently pursuing her second master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she is exploring her passion for classical violin, as well as early/historically informed performance. Before moving to the Netherlands, she completed her bachelor’s and first master’s degrees at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.

Jonathan Fuller is from Atlanta, Georgia, currently pursuing his bachelor's degree at the New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Yeesun Kim. He strives to continue to share his love of collaboration with a diverse range of communities and musicians in order to create a deeper and more meaningful musical experience.

The program will last approximately one hour with no intermission. Enjoy conversation and nosh before and after the performance. Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided, and you are welcome to bring alcoholic beverages.
