Bold, Triumphant, Timeless: Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (“Lord Nelson Mass”)
Prepare for an unforgettable concert experience as Boston Baroque presents one of the most dramatic and stirring choral masterworks of the Classical era: The Missa in Angustiis, famously dubbed the Lord Nelson Mass

Composed in 1798 against the backdrop of Napoleon’s mounting threat, Haydn infused this Mass with intense emotion and bold orchestral writing—especially the striking interplay of trumpets, timpani, strings, and organ—that capture a collective moment of hope amid fear.

The performance is led by guest conductor Bernard Labadie, featuring a dazzling cast of debuting soloists: Lauren Snouffer (soprano), Alex Hetherington (mezzo-soprano), Andrew Haji (tenor), and Philippe Sly (bass-baritone).

We’re excited to offer 25 exclusive discounted tickets for each concert date through the Groupmuse Nights Out program. This is your chance to attend a thrilling evening of baroque-classical grandeur at a special rate—but these limited tickets are expected to go fast, so get yours today!

Groupmuse ticket buyers will check in at Will Call, located to the left of the checkin area at NEC's Jordan Hall.
