Host

Jared P.

I'm delighted to host Ryan Soeyadi (piano) and Weiting Sun (cello) for their program 'A Night of Romance', featuring exciting program of solo piano works and the Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata!

Doors open at 7 pm, music starts around 7:30 pm.

What's the music?

PROGRAM:
Beach - Romance, Op.23
Paganini - Variations on a theme from "Moses in Egypt"
Alejandro - Danza para Piano No. 1
Rachmaninoff - Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 19

This program centers around one of the most lyrical and symphonic works ever written for cello and piano: Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata. Composed around the same time as his Second Piano Concerto, it’s filled with the sweeping melodies and rich, opulent textures that define his style.
As a kind of musical hors d’oeuvre to set the atmosphere, we'll begin with works that may not be as brooding or melancholic as Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata, but are no less passionate, intimate, and expressive.
