On Saturday, June 14, join us at Euclid Manor for Musical Stories of Life and Resistance in Rojava and the Middle East.
Raman Osman is a self-taught musician from the culturally rich and resilient region of Rojava in northeastern Syria. Growing up in a diverse Kurdish community—steeped in Armenian, Assyrian, Arabic, Turkish, and Persian musical influences—Raman began creating music at an early age, building his first instrument at the age of 9.
Through a musical program that spans the wider Middle East, he'll share stories of life as a Kurd under the Syrian government, celebrating the power of art as a form of resistance and renewal in the face of oppression.
Sharing the stage with Raman is percussionist Faisal Zedan from southern Syria as well as clarinetist Asaf Ophir from Israel. Together, these three artists weave music and narratives that bridge diverse traditions, inviting audiences to experience firsthand the storied past and resilient spirit of a region where music is both a tribute to life and a powerful tool for resistance.
Event may be outdoors if weather permits.
