Where does this music come from?
This program celebrates some of the most celebrated works written and arranged for string trio through the ages. We open with Bach's transcendent and timeless "Goldberg variations," written originally for keyboard in 1741 and arranged for string trio in the 1980s, followed by Hungarian Composer Erno Dohnanyi's Vibrant and colorful serenade for string trio, written in the early 1900s. Following a short break to meet and chat with you, our wonderful audience, we'll close the program with Beethoven's tempestuous c minor string trio, op 9 No 3, the last trio he wrote in 1798 before pivoting to string quartets and changing the genre for all time.
