We're delighted to host the dynamic duo - Folk Rebels feat. Galen Passen (Sitar) and Simona Smirnova (KanklÄ—s/Lithuanian Zither) for an intimate, cross-cultural musical concert in our apartment!
Join us & marvel at the magical, original pairing of mystical Baltic sounds with the meditative depths of Indian ragas amidst the fading Manhattan silhouette during golden hour.
Doors open at 7:00 pm, with music starting around 7:30 pm.
Wine/light refreshments will be served!
What's the music?
This musical duo is both traditional and experimental, focusing on the connection to nature that exists in Eastern European folk music and Hindustani Classical music. The repertoire will consist of original pieces as well as explanations and performances from each of. the separate traditions.
Where does this music come from?
Folk Rebels came about from two musicians who feel deeply connected to their music yet on the outside of their traditions. So this music is an ode to what we love about the traditions as well as a practice of expressing ourselves freely.
