Dear friends,

You are warmly invited to join us Monday April 14th in San Francisco for Scenius 2.2, an intimate evening of innovative music and excellent company based around a musical ensemble and its remarkable community of artists and friends in a wonderful new performance venue located in the SoMa neighborhood on historic Folsom St.

Featured performances:
* Mozart Clarinet Quintet K. 581 featuring California Symphony's principal clarinetist Cory Tiffin
* SF premiere of a new work for clarinet quintet by Brendan Eder
* Brendan Eder's "Solace" performed by Authority Figurines ensemble
* Sound bath full ensemble group improv finale led by Matthew Liam Nicholson

Ensemble will include:
Cory Tiffin, Clarinet
Matt Vincent, Violin
Dominic Johnson, Violin
Keith Lawrence, Viola
Eric Sheafer, Cello
Brendan Eder, Percussion
Matthew Liam Nicholson, Guitar

This one-time-only curated performance celebrates interconnectedness, collective creativity, artistic community - and the profound power of music to uplift and transport us all.

More about the artists:
Multi-hyphenate Los Angeles-based composer/arranger/producer Brendan Eder's most recent ambient-neoclassical album Therapy features gorgeous meditative woodwind arrangements and was named one of the best of 2023 by The Guardian.

Matthew Liam Nicholson's sound baths artfully explore the transcendental possibilities of music and sound. Using specific frequencies, live acoustic instruments, field recordings and amplified sound sources, they nurture and hold participants in a bouquet of sounds - unique, intricately layered compositions guiding through a deep and profound meditative process. "A freak for sound" (Pitchfork), with a "clear authorial voice" (The Wire).

Scenius is a word Brian Eno coined to describe creatives working together to form a scene. He said he was interested in "the intelligence of a whole operation or group of people. I think that’s a more useful way to think about culture. Let’s forget the idea of ‘genius’ for a little while, let’s think about the whole ecology of ideas that give rise to good new thoughts and good new work."

LIMITED CAPACITY - $5 RSVP, $30 suggested donation but no one turned away (pay what you can)

We’re excited to see you there!

  • Dom, Matthew, Keith, Brendan, and GRNHS Gallery
