Please help us welcome Ljova, the New York-based composer and performer who is in LA for two days to work on a project with Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, and the singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade. Ljova's solo project, "Enter The Fadolín" introduces a new instrument into the classical cannon -- the fadolín –– that combines the range of the violin, viola and most of the cello, in one unique sonority. This program establishes a context by presenting music by Bach (originally written for the keyboard), his Irish contemporary Turlough O'Carolan (originally performed on the folk harp), a theme by Dvorak originally written for the orchestra, and some pieces written especially for this unique, haunting new instrument, by Ljova himself.
Doors at 6pm, music at 6:30.
