Our last ARTEK Night Out was a stellar SOLD OUT event! So ARTEK is back again with another offering for our community, at 50%+ off prices in the same stunning location, St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church. Here's just a few of the reviews we received from their last concert:
"Mystical experience." "The music was excellent. We loved to see and hear the ancient musical instruments. If you closed your eyes you could feel the time period." "Beautiful setting." "Church acoustics were wonderful." "The entire event was outstanding."
On the docket this time: the music of Philipp Heinrich Erlebach (1657-1714). Kapellmeister of the court of Thuringia for most of his life, he was known to be a prolific – and renowned – composer of over 1000 works including operas, cantatas, masses, and chamber music. Sadly, most of his music was destroyed in a fire in 1785 leaving us just a few compositions to get a glimpse of his genius. Cynthia Frievogel, violin; Arnie Tanimoto, viola da gamba; Daniel Swenberg, theorbo; and Gwendolyn Toth, harpsichord will perform selections from Erlebach’s beautifully expressive trios for strings. Soprano Laurie Heimes will sing some of the lovely sacred songs Erlebach wrote for the court in Harmonische Freude musicalischer Freunde (1697). Join ARTEK for an evening of intimate chamber music by candlelight.
Additionally, there will be a free lecture before the performance by scholar Sara Ruhle Kyle about Erlebach. So come early at 6:15 for this bonus sesh!
Check out ARTEK's website here.
Groupmuse ticket buyers are instructed to pick up their tickets at Will Call prior to the performance. Seating is first come, first served, within the designated ticketing section.
