In this final Chameleon Arts Ensemble/Groupmuse Night Out for the 2023-2024 season, CAE closes its 26th chamber music series with a splish, a splash, and a buoyant encounter with nature. The program, titled water, water every where, includes Guy Ropartz’s Prélude, Marine et Chansons for flute, string trio, and harp; Hanns Eisler’s Fourteen Ways to Describe the Rain for flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, and piano; the Boston premiere of David Bruce’s The Consolation of Rain for oboe, cello, percussion, and harp; and Schubert’s Quintet in A Major for piano and strings, D. 667, “Trout.”
There are few works as spirited and carefree as Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet, with its beguiling brook, darting fish, and sparkling waters. David Bruce muses on the life-affirming power of rain, and Eisler captures the moods and textures of a storm, from first drops until the sun breaks through.
Tickets can be picked up at will call in the 30 minutes prior to the performance. Seating is GA, first come, first served, within the designated ticketing section.
