By the end of our Halloween weekend Mini-Festival, we'll have traveled the world and the ages together, and we've got a finale to settle us into Sunday night, and will ready us for an... unpredictable... week ahead.
Sooyun Kim is one of the leading flutists of our generation. She's played before symphony orchestras the world over, she's won prestigious international awards, she's a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center -- arguably the preeminent chamber music society in the world -- and, lucky for us, she loves Groupmuse! Indeed, many years ago, she brought her titanic and world-renowned talent to the cramped Cambridge, MA apartment that Groupmuse founders Sam and Kyle lived in for a groupmuse we'll never forget.
And now, she's showing up for us when we need her the most, donating this forthcoming performance so that all money raised goes to the Groupmuse Foundation.
She's prepared for us all 12 of Georg Philipp Telemann's Fantasias for Solo Flute. A contemporary of J.S. Bach, Telemann was probably Europe's most celebrated composer in his day. Each Fantasia is in a different key and with Sooyun's breath and in her hands, each Fantasia conjures a different world. Sooyun will pair each Fantasia with images of beautiful art by Brother Thomas Bezanson, a Benedictine monk and world-renowned ceramic artist, who wanted the sale of his work to help other artists, as his friends had helped him.
This performance will be a Premiere, recorded specially for our audience, and Sooyun will join us in the Zoom for the before and after chats.
Instead of purchasing tickets for this event, you can purchase bingo cards for when we play ONLINE BINGO with Sooyun. Why are we playing? To raise money for Groupmuse Foundation and it's a fun way to spend intermission together with Sooyun. We'll have prizes for the Bingo winners!
All bingo card purchases benefit Groupmuse Foundation.

What's the music?
12 Fantasias for Solo Flute by G.Ph. Telemann
paired with images and quotes by a ceramic artist, Brother Thomas Bezanson
A contemporary of J.S. Bach, Telemann was a people's composer - his works that were commissioned by few selective members of aristocrats for special ceremonies were frequently performed in public concerts where anyone could enjoy.
