Let’s celebrate! Join us online for a stirring discussion where we will hear the voices and stories of the extraordinary Dramatic Mezzo Soprano, Karmesha Peake, and the incredibly multi-faceted harpist, Dr. Ashley Jackson!!
An enterprising, skilled, and extraordinarily gifted Dramatic Mezzo Soprano, Karmesha discovered her affinity for music at the age of five singing in the youth choir at Taylortown AME Zion Church. She trained at the University of Kentucky obtaining her Master's and Bachelor's in Music Performance. Karmesha now resides in NYC where she has established herself as a formidable artist in the city's thriving music community. (https://www.karmeshapeake.com/bio)
Praised for her rhythmic precision and dynamic range, harpist Dr. Ashley Jackson enjoys a multifaceted career as a highly sought-after musician and collaborator in New York and beyond. As a highly versatile artist, she has developed a unique "groove beyond gentility" on her instrument (I Care If You Listen). Throughout her academic and professional careers, Dr. Jackson has demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion within higher education and the performing arts, firmly believing that a deeper understanding of cultural and ethnic diversity is critical to intellectual and artistic development. The Planetarymuse Forum is free. However, donations to support the artists are welcome. They will receive 100% of the proceeds from the event!

{The Planetarymuse Forum is presented by the Groupmuse Foundation’s Planetary Music Movement. This bridge-building endeavor guides Groupmuse to overcome the historical dominance of European ethnocentrism within the classical music tradition, by celebrating historical and contemporary musical traditions of the planet, particularly and imminently through the inclusion and celebration of works by artists of African descent. You can learn more here: https://www.groupmuse.org/.}
