About

Dr. Stephanie Susberich is a classical vocalist and composer whose work centers on voice as both instrument and thought. She performs repertoire spanning early music through contemporary works alongside her own compositions, approaching music as a long-form practice shaped by discipline, interiority, and form.

Her performances emphasize precision over spectacle and presence over display, treating sound as an architecture capable of holding intensity, stillness, and transformation. In addition to her work as a performer, she is the founder of DVSSIMA, a cultural salon series devoted to listening, depth, and the revival of intimate artistic exchange.

Stephanie holds a doctorate in music and has performed in concert settings across the U.S. Her work invites audiences into close attention, where voice becomes a site of structure, resonance, and lived experience.

Music

The music I perform grows out of the classical vocal tradition, spanning early repertoire, operatic arias, and contemporary works, alongside my own compositions. I’m drawn to music where form and intensity coexist, where restraint creates the conditions for depth rather than limiting it.

Much of what I sing comes from traditions that treat the voice as a cultivated instrument shaped over time through technique, discipline, and listening. My original work emerges from the same lineage, extending these traditions into the present while engaging questions of interiority, structure, and resonance.

Whether performing historical or newly written music, I approach each program as a coherent arc rather than a set of individual pieces, inviting listeners into close attention and a shared experience of sound as living form.
