About
Lucy Nemeth is a violinist from the Bay Area, California, who loves storytelling, connecting, and communicating through chamber music.
Lucy is a founding member of the Lyra Quartet, praised by Pan M 360 for their “rigorous and profoundly human” interpretations and “impeccable phrasing.” Finalists in the 2024 McGill Chamber Competition, the quartet recently performed at the Canadian Architecture Centre and in the Schulich in the Neighborhood concert series. That same year, they were awarded the Emerging Artist Fellowship at the Garth Newel Music Center and a full scholarship to the Tuckamore Music Festival. Lucy has also appeared at the Valley of the Moon, ENCORE, Bowdoin, and Mendocino festivals, and held residencies at Musaics of the Bay and Soaring Arts Music Collective.
Music
I play a wide range of music for solo violin and chamber ensembles, from Baroque and Classical works to contemporary pieces and folk-inspired repertoire. Much of what I perform comes from the rich tradition of string chamber music, written to be shared in living rooms and enjoyed in community.
