Brasil Sonoroso: Brazilian choro and forró, reimagined!

Catherine Bent – cello; Rob Curto – accordion and vocals, Gregg Mervine – percussion

Catherine, Rob and Gregg have each spent years in Brazil, immersed in a wide range of Afro-European musical traditions including choro, samba and forró. Brasil Sonoroso is the expression of their love of these infectious rhythms, sophisticated harmonies, lyricism and emotional variety.

Music

We play instrumental music from all over Brazil, with a special focus on the Afro-Brazilian forró music of northeastern states Paraíba, Pernambuco, Ceará and Bahia.
Composers include Sivuca, Hermeto Pascoal, Dominguinhos, Luis Gonzaga, Jacob do Bandolim, and originals.
Dancing is not required but is encouraged!
