Praised as “a first-rate ensemble among the new generation of performing artists,” ArcoStrum is a trailblazing violin–guitar duo known for imaginative programming, on-stage charisma, and genre-spanning concerts—from Vivaldi and Chinese traditional music to progressive rock. Winners and Audience Prize recipients of the 2023 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, they were the first violin-guitar duo in CAG history to receive this honor. ArcoStrum features violinist Strauss Shi, a three-time international prize winner, and guitarist TY Zhang, the first Chinese guitarist to win the Guitar Foundation of America’s ICAC.

They have performed for sold-out audiences across Asia and the Americas, with appearances at Carnegie Hall Citywide, Merkin Hall, Caramoor, Kravis Center, and major festivals nationwide.

Formed at Juilliard as classmates, the duo blends friendship, creativity, and a shared mission to reimagine the classical music concert experience.
