DESCRIPTION:Hosted by David D.\nMusicians: Daria Vasileva\n\nPlease join us
this autumn for a piano recital of musical storytelling in an intimate co
zy living room setting in NW DC! \n\nAbout the Program\n\nTales Without Wo
rds: an evening of storytelling and evoking your imagination\nPart I - At
the Forgotten Ball\nThe evening opens with Medtner's Sonata Reminiscenza\,
a piece that feels like a memory rising to the surface before it has foun
 d words - searching\, tender\, incomplete. It leads into Bach's English Su
ite No. 2 in A minor\, where storytelling takes on the shape of Baroque da
 nce\, full of life\, wit and reflection.\nPart II - Encountering Fate\nBac
h's English Suite No. 3 in G minor returns to that same courtly language i
n a darker key\, before a set of Medtner's Skazki ("Tales") - some of the
most explicitly narrative pieces ever written for solo piano\, though what
tale each one tells is left entirely to the listener. The evening closes
with Chopin's Ballade No. 1 in G minor\, a piece that behaves like a story
in the truest sense: it has a beginning\, a rising tension\, and a conclu
sion that arrives less like a resolution than an inevitability.\n\nAbout t
he Artist\n\nDaria Vasileva is a Russian concert pianist known as an ambas
sador of Alexander Scriabin's music\, with a devotion to storytelling repe
rtoire that extends to Bach\, Medtner\, and the great women composers hist
ory too often left off the program. In her recitals\, Daria seeks to culti
vate a uniquely close and expressive interpretive bond between performer a
nd audience\n\nTrained at one of Russia's leading conservatories in Kazan
and later at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne\, Dari
a has won prizes at international competitions including the Smetana Inter
national Piano Competition and the Scriabin International Piano Competitio
n\, where she received the Special Scriabin Prize. In June 2026\, she rele
ased her debut album\, Scriabin: Elements\, on the French label Aparté. N
ow based in the United States\, Daria is building an active concert life a
cross the country\, with more than 80\,000 people following her performanc
es and reflections on classical music online. \n\nPayment can be made in c
ash or via Zelle at the event. \n\nAge restriction: Children 6 and up are
